Can I record other assets on getquin?
Of course, at getquin we don’t limit ourselves to investments such as shares or ETFs; other assets such as works of art, watches or collectables can also be tracked and discussed with the community.
As well as the best-known investment opportunities on the stock market, there are, of course, many other ways to grow your wealth and invest your money. For example, art, cars, jewellery, start-ups, NFTs and peer-to-peer loans are often used to further diversify a portfolio.
To present your entire investment portfolio on getquin in a really clear way, you can enter alternative assets and add them to your portfolio – including the number of units and your own price history.
As prices and yields for these alternatives cannot, of course, be retrieved from a central database, it is possible to enter this data manually. There is neither an automatic database nor an automatic import function for this purpose.
To create such an asset, you can follow these steps:
Go to the portfolio you want or create a new one, then tap ‘+ Import’.
Choose whether you want to create a new portfolio or add the details to an existing one.
In the overview, select the ‘Other’ category – this takes you to the menu for alternative assets.
Give the asset a name (e.g. ‘Rolex Daytona’) and select a category: Other, P2P Loans, NFT, Art, Cars, Jewellery, Start-ups or Collectables.
Now enter your first transaction: transaction type (buy/sell), date, number of units and price per unit. You can enter any additional transaction costs as usual via the advanced transaction menu.
Tap ‘Add transaction’ – your asset has now been imported.
Once the asset has been imported, tapping on it will take you to a dedicated securities page, just as with regular securities.
If the portfolio containing the alternative asset forms part of your aggregated portfolio, the Portfolio tab will also be available there. Otherwise, this tab will remain blank.
Using the menu with the three dots in the top right-hand corner of the securities page, you can:
manage price trends and add new price points with dates,
edit the name and category of the asset at a later date,
or delete the asset.
The price history can be adjusted retrospectively at any time – ensuring that your asset’s performance is always up to date.
Important note: The securities page for an alternative asset can only be viewed by you, the creator. Even if you share your portfolio, other users will not have access to it.
I can no longer edit my existing alternative assets, and I can no longer record rental income for properties. What can I do?
This may happen as part of the transition to the new alternative assets.
We expect to automatically migrate existing alternative assets to the new type in the background, probably by the end of October 2026, so you won’t need to do this yourself. If you don’t want to wait that long, you can simply recreate your existing alternative assets. Please note that app version 2.260.0 or later is required for the new alternative assets.
